School is back in full swing, the campus is buzzing and the first floor water heater is broken. Today I boiled water for dishes, laundry and Abby's bath. Other than malfunctioning fire alarms and cold water, we are loving Davidson. Eugene's RA's are super great guys - they even dance to the Wiggles with Abby! Speaking of whom, I think it is time for an Abby update.
Just this week she has officially dropped her morning nap, so we are down to one per day. Around 13 months she started sleeping through the night about 5 nights/week which was heavenly! She was also eating much better. However, about a month ago (about the time students started coming back) she digressed in both eating and sleeping. I think it is just a matter of readjusting to people, eating in the cafeteria, etc. It is pretty discouraging, but I think maybe I have some more to learn about relying on God's strength and not my own.
Our perfect little angel has been replaced by this little girl who tests boundaries and throws fits when she doesn't get her way - how did that happen? However there are still many precious moments such as when she was twirling around the living room "singing" to her cassette playing Jesus Loves the Little Children.
A few weeks ago she discovered that her finger fits perfectly in her nostril. Thankfully that fascination only lasted a couple days. However, tonight as I was rocking her before bed she kept trying to fit her finger up my nostril and would giggle when I shook my head.
Everyone keeps asking if she is talking yet. The answer is yes, but not in a language anyone would understand. She has a few words: car, shoes, dog, I can't think of any others right now. Mostly she says a sound in a word such as "si" for outside, "sss" for cheese. She loves playing outside, going for walks, soaking herself in the sprinklers, "reading", figuring out how things work or fit together, scribbling, finding the bag of mini marshmallows in the cupboard when Mommy isn't looking, playing with pillows, peek-a-boo, rocking her dolls and stuffed animals and singing/dancing to music or the Wiggles. Despite the new attitude, I am absolutely loving this age!

Christie,
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I really am blessed to know you, Eugene and Abby. I just am glad that I do know people that have gone through this as well. I appreciate the support and letting me know your feelings as well. Hope you three are doing well.
