After failing miserably at keeping up our last website, we are trying again! I'll start with summarizing the last several months. We are still residing in Farrar, the men's dorm at Corban College for which Eugene is the Resdient Director. This is our 3rd school year here.
Last summer, after 6 years of hard work, Eugene became Eugene D. Edwards, M.A.! He graduated from Western Seminary with a Masters in Exegetical Theology. He took the fall semester off from classes, which turned out to be perfect timing for me. We found out in September that we are expecting a baby, so as I slept through my first trimester, Eugene cleaned the house - I have a wonderful husband!
In the spring, Eugene started taking classes again. He is currently enrolled in Statistics and Probability to start working towards a Math Education degree. Our current plans for post-Farrar life is for Eugene to teach during the school year and for us to serve on the mission field over the summers. Our desire is to be the follow up to church-planting missionary work by teaching people to study and teach the Bible themselves so they can pastor their own native communities.
For the last 7 years I have been working at Bridgeway, a behavioral healthcare agency. 2 years ago I became the Site Operations Manager for the Marion County offices. I am very grateful for the experience I gained, but I was constantly overwhelmed and stressed. Early this year God opened a door for me to move jobs, and in February I began working at Christian Community Placement Center (CCPC). CCPC provides residential behavioral treatment for troubled youth in a foster care setting. They do tremendous work with both the youth and their families as their goal is to enable the youth to successfully return home. I love working for an agency that provides its clients with all aspects of treatment needs - emotional, behavioral, physical and spiritual.
That's all for now. We promise to be more faithful with our updates. Next time we'll let you know more baby news as we know people are really more interested in that nowadays :)
