Last fall our oak tree in the front yard fell over. Eugene has been hard at work removing the stump and roots. Now we have to decide what to replace it with. If anyone has that green thumb touch, we would love some ideas. Here is what we want - mature height under 40 ft, deciduous, green leaves, no feathery leaves, flowering optional, spreading branches (more rounded look than tall and slender). And because a post would not be complete without a picture - here is our little precious one!

Oh she looks precious!
Chinese Saucer Magnolias are beautiful! They are petite, but yet so distinct. Their branches are this rich red color, which is the perfect contrast with the delicate pink "saucer cup" flowers that rest on them in early spring! It is one of the most stunning plants I have ever seen. I hope to get one of my own some day!

You'll have to tell me how things are going with Grandpa and Grandma there! PICTURES of them with her would be great!
