Catch-Up

I have not been in the mood to blog for a while, so here are some updates:
Abby had her check-up on the 15th. It was the first day of the snowstorm so I am grateful the doctor made it into work and was willing to see us. The doc confirmed she was underweight, but said she was around the 15th percentile so not too worrisome. She gave us lots of suggestions to try and get Abby to eat solids and will check her again later this month.
I got to work from home most of that week due to the snow - I think I became a little spoiled! We attempted to fly to CA on the 20th, but our flight was canceled. So, we drove instead. It was kind of sad to drive for 2 1/2 hours just to get back to Salem, but the rest of the trip was not too bad.
We enjoyed seeing Eugene's family for Christmas and even squeezed in a visit with our friends, Andrew and Kathleen. We drove back on Friday in a record 10 1/2 hours! I think that is as fast as it gets with a baby. We then headed to Portland to celebrate Christmas with my family. We got home late last night and Abby pretty much slept all day today. Our 10 days of traveling wore her out - maybe she will sleep through the night tonight! I think that is pretty much it. Here are some pictures from the last couple weeks.

We are seeing this face less and less! She now "likes" (tolerates is a more appropriate word) cereal mixed with bananas and applesauce.

Sleep!

Abby stopped sleeping through the night around 5 months. Last night I was having a breakdown, probably a combination of sleep deprivation and being frustrated that I haven't been able to finish Christmas preparations due to being somewhat snowed/iced in. Well, God knows my needs and last night Abby slept through! Now if I could just get her to eat . . .

All Bundled Up

It's getting colder!

It's a .4 mile walk from our dorm up to the cafeteria, so Abby gets all bundled up each night. We had a WIC appointment today and Abby weighed in at 14 lbs 4 oz. which is actually not good. She has dropped down to the 7th percentile for her age. She has her 6-month check-up on Monday, so we will see what the doc has to say. She seems happy and healthy so I'm not too concerned, but as her mom it's hard not to worry! Please pray she will start eating solids!

Sitting Up

I've been playing around with my phone and took some more video of Abby this morning. She is doing much better at sitting up, but still a little unsteady. Here she is playing with her basket of toys.

Spritz and a New Pastor

It has been over a year now since our old pastor moved to Arizona. This morning we got to welcome his long awaited replacement. I am very excited about our new pastor, Mark Hanke from Fort Collins. He has a huge heart for reaching out to our community and strengthening our church body. It will be nice to have an outside perspective who can help us see our areas that need change or growth. Besides, he must have seriously felt called to our church to have left such great fishing!

I made Spritz tonight - yum!

This morning

Here are some pics from this morning. I thought I would give rice cereal a try again since it's been a while. The pictures may look like she was eating it, but don't be fooled. She just likes to smear it everywhere, teethe on the spoon and then spit out any cereal that makes it into her mouth. Abby and I headed to Gresham today to hang out with my mom and go to some Christmas bazaars.

Good-bye Fall

Most people can't wait to get their Christmas decorations out. I really enjoy decorating for winter and Christmas, but I'm always sad to put away my fall stuff. It's my favorite time of year!

How I wash dishes

I guess this is my version of strapping a baby on my back to go work in the fields. Only it's not a field. And I'm not outside. And it's not hot. OK, so maybe it's nothing like that!
