Home

We arrived home from "Sac Town" yesterday. We made it in 11.5 hours shaving off a good 1.5 hours from the last trip. I think it may be many years before we do it in 8 hours again, but hey, it's progress! We enjoyed a week of visiting with Eugene's family and wonderful Grandma food!

Breakthrough

After almost 3 months of teething, one of Abby's many tooth buds finally poked through yesterday morning! We left for CA on Saturday (or moved to CA depending on your view of how much we packed!) and got to spend some time with our good friends Matt and Dawn and their adorable children. Abby and Holly (8 months old) really liked each other. They both got so excited over another baby we had to hold them back. Not sure what they would have done if we had just let them go at each other! Yesterday we finished the trip to El Dorado Hills and are here for the week.Look how much we took! This picture does not even include the play yard :)

Milestone Accomplishment

Yesterday Abby figured out how to roll over! She can do it both directions, but is best at going from back to front. She did it a bunch of times. After I had put her down for bed last night I heard her yelling. When I went in the room she was yelling because she was frustrated that she could not figure out how to roll over on a soft surface. I tried explaining to a baby that bed is for sleeping, not playing :)

Reading the school newspaper with Daddy

Abby LOVES paper. Try explaining to your boss why the report is wet and crinkled!

Pumpkin Smash!

Sunday night was Farrar's annual Pumpkin Smash. Every November, they guys of the dorm throw pumpkins off the roof onto a tarp and have an all-dorm wrestling match. The last man standing wins great honor and bragging rights for years to come. Here are some pics:

Yes, I dressed Abby for the occasion. Of course her bed time was a couple hours before the event began, but the guys were preparing all day so she joined in.

The Ring. Under the tarp were the words Impepo Veritos (in pumpkins we trust) which is shouted at the beginning of the event.

All psyched up and ready to wrestle!

Throwing the pumpkins off the roof.

Let the game begin!

Brent and Ben (previous RA's) MC'd the event. Ben told the contestants that if anyone could get Eugene's shirt off during the match he would get them lunch on Student Life. Why did Eugene allow him to hold a microphone in front of a couple hundred people?

Every year each hall of Aagard, our sister dorm, adopts a hall of Farrar and cheers for them.

The Winner - Congratulations Kris Cox!

The winner gets robed in a t-shirt and crowned with a pumpkin hat (made from a real pumpkin)

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Yesterday we celebrated my Grandpa's 80th birthday. It was a great time with lots of his friends and family. There was even family that flew out from Iowa (Grandpa's home state)!

Eugene hanging out with the girls.

My Uncle Steve had fun with Abby and assured me he wouldn't hold her mouth under the soft-serve ice cream machine for at least another 6 months! When we were little, Uncle Steve let us put whip cream on our stuffing :)

Cousins!

The man of the hour! Grandpa shared Scripture verses with us all (from memory of course!) that had been special inspirations to him. I am so grateful for the godly legacy that he has given our family.

The Bass Family
Unfortunately I did not get to meet all of the ones that came out from the Midwest. Maybe we'll just have to take a trip to Iowa!

Applesauce!

Mmmmm. I love the smell of cooking apples and love the taste of home-made applesauce!

A bowl full of yumminess!

Daddy's a Softy

So, on Friday Eugene brought me lunch to work and saw Abby playing in the exersaucer thing and saw how much she liked it. So on his way home from a wedding last night he stopped at Toys-R-Us and bought one!

Notice the outfit? I know I am normally way too obsessed with making sure everything matches - clothes, blanket, burp rag, etc. Today she wet her pants, but the top was still clean and I didn't have any other blue pants, so I swallowed my OCD and put pink ones on her! However it was not long before she spit up all over the top so I got to trade it out for a matching one :)

New Toys!

Today I tried putting Abby in the round play thing at work and she loved it. We also borrowed a johnny jump-up from someone at work and she loves that, too. She really likes to stand up, but still can't on her own, so these are perfect. And, it is much better than holding her on my lap trying to keep her from eating my work :)

Daddy and Mommy are still Abby's favorite toys!

Waking Up

All I have to say is whoever invented Daylight Savings didn't have a baby.
