Baby Update

Hello to all. I need to start with an apology for all the phone calls I have not yet returned. We are not trying to ignore anyone - just had a rough first few days. The second day at the hospital we found out that Abby was not getting enough to eat and dropping weight too rapidly. Unfortunately she had become so weak that she had trouble waking up enough to eat and even had trouble sucking the supplements from a bottle. But, praise God, she turned a corner yesterday and has begun to eat well and regain strength. We have only had to give her a formula supplement twice in the last 24 hours. We are hoping by the end of the week to be able to just natural feed and drop the pumping and supplementing and maybe have a little more time to sleep! I'll post some more pictures soon, but I hear her waking up, so need to start the cycle again!

Baby Name!

So its been a week or so. I am impressed by your Hebrew skills. So many people found such creative ways to figure out that ancient text. For those of you who like their words going from left to right, I will tell you what we came up with. We decided to name are soon coming daughter, Abigail Vera Edwards.

Abigail, or Abby as we will call her, has a Biblical origin meaning Father's joy. I have not even seen her face yet , and I can attest that she is indeed a joy of her father. We also know that she will bring great joy to her Heavenly Father. So we like that first name, and we think it is cute.

Vera, her middle name, is the name of my great-grandma. I have nothing but fond memories of my great grandma. I can recall going over to her's and grandpa E.J.'s house almost every afternoon for TomThumb bars and a sandwich made of pickled cucumbers? and cheese. Yummy. I guess to sum it up, my grandma Vera is, for me, the purest picture of kindness and servanthood I can think of. What a fitting middle name for our precious Abby.

So we are ready to welcome Abigail Vera Edwards into our family.

Praising the Lord today

Today we praise God that Eugene is alive and all right. Last night he was in a head-on collision in his truck. He was driving down Turner Rd (about 45mph) and a lady coming the other direction must not have seen him and tried turning left and turned directly into him. Eugene is pretty bruised and scraped, but nothing major. The elderly lady seemed to be in about the same condition - just scraped and bruised. There are so many things that could have been worse (I could have been with him and his truck did not have dual side air bags). We are both a little shaken - the site of the truck was kind of scary. We just continually thank God for keeping him safe.

Baby Name!!!

So, we have finally come to a conclusion on our baby girl's name, but we thought we would offer a bit of a puzzle to ya'all first. This image is the Hebrew spelling of our little girl's name (who is due in 3 weeks). Either Christie or I will post the full name in a week or so. Until then happy Hebrew hunting.
